YouTube announces new best ways for creators to make money through Shorts

YouTube is getting ready to launch the next phase of the platform’s creative rewards programme. YouTube announced that it is expanding the platform’s monetization structure during its first Made on YouTube event. The YouTube Partner Program (YPP) was created to encourage participation from more creators.

It is providing new opportunities for creators to make money off of shorts. For this reason, the site is allowing users who include music in their videos to monetize them with ads. This means that 2 million producers will be able to make money from their YouTube videos in any way they want.

According to Susan Wojcicki, CEO of YouTube, “Over the previous three years, YouTube has paid creators, artists, and media firms more than $50 billion USD (via the YPP).” And we’re doubling down today. By opening up our YouTube Partner programme to more people, we’re starting the next chapter in how we reward innovation on our platform.

YouTube announces new ways for creators to make money

Beginning in early 2023, short-focused creators who reach the requirements of 1,000 subscribers and 10 million short views in 90 days can submit an application to YPP. These new partners will benefit from all of YPP’s features, including the ability to monetize YouTube’s long-form and short-form content with ads. Long-form artists who meet the standard requirements—1,000 subscribers and 4,000 view hours—can still apply to YPP through this other way.

The company also announced that it would launch a new YPP level with less stringent qualifications that would grant faster access to fan funding tools like Super Thanks, Super Chat, Super Stickers, and Channel Memberships in order to encourage creators who are just starting out on YouTube.

The platform will increase creators’ revenue by double.

Shorts are exploding all over the world, with 1.5 billion monthly logged-in users and 30 billion daily views. Beginning in early 2023, YouTube is abandoning a set fund and doubling down on a distinctive revenue-sharing model for shorts for both existing and future YPP creators in order to reward this new creative class.

Each month, because advertisements appear in the Shorts Feed in between videos, money from these commercials will be collected, given to the producers of the Shorts, and used to pay for music licencing. They will keep 45 percent of the total amount given to creators, which will be distributed based on their percentage of total short views.Whether they use music or not, the income split does not change.

Soon, YouTube will launch the Creator Music Feature.

The service will additionally include the Creator Music feature. Creators can now purchase high-quality, reasonably priced music licences there, giving them the opportunity to fully monetize their work. The revenue split they typically receive from music-free videos will remain unchanged. Creators will also be allowed to use songs and split profits with the track’s artist and other related rights holders if they don’t want to purchase a licence up front.
