Steam 2022 Sale Schedule Revealed, Annual Spring Sale Coming 2023

Valve has finally announced the dates for its upcoming Steam sales, as well as a change to the schedule that will get rid of one important seasonal sale and add another.

The Spring Sale will take the place of the Lunar New Year Sale, which currently occurs in January, beginning in 2023. From March 16 to 23, the first of these will take place. According to a blog post by Valve, “the addition of a spring sale was a popular request from our developer and publisher community” (opens in a new tab).

Summer, winter, and autumn sales were Valve’s usual three seasonal promotions. The latter, which falls around Halloween, includes numerous horror game discounts.

Valve goes on to say that its Lunar New Year promotional event was “often much too close to the December holiday sale period” and that “it will allow us to create more space between our four major seasonal sales and provide more opportunities throughout the year for developers to expand and execute their discounting calendar.”

The dates of upcoming Steam sales are 2022–2023

  • Dates of the 2022 Autumn Steam Sale: November 22-November 29
  • Winter Sale: December 22, 2022 – January 5, 2023
  • March 16-March 23, 2023 Steam Spring Sale

The Lunar New Year sale was introduced on Steam in 2016, claims Valve, to commemorate the rise of game developers and customers from “Hong Kong, Taiwan, China, and South Korea.” However, over time, the company heard complaints that the sale frequently overlapped with the December Christmas sale period. By extending the time between “huge Steam-wide seasonal promotions,” Valve feels that customers would be better served.

When is the next Steam sale?

The next significant sale on Steam will be the Halloween Sale, which will take place from October 21 to November 1, 2022. This year, Steam is calling it “Steam Scream Fest,” but as usual, it will be focused on horror games and have discounts that are just as scary.

When is the next Steam Next Fest?

The next Steam Next Fest will take place from October 3 to October 10, 2022. Steam Festivals (formerly named Next Fest) are another opportunity to play games for a low price. They often occur many times a year, and the most recent one took place from June 13 to June 30, 2022. Since 2020, Steam has held regular festival weeks during which you can play free samples of hundreds of forthcoming games. Like sales, it can be difficult to navigate through the list, but it’s a fantastic opportunity to try something you’ve been eyeing.

The biggest sales occur in the summer and winter. They usually last for two weeks (ish). Other sales, such as those associated with the Lunar New Year and Black Friday, last for nearly a week.
