A very reliable source revealed details of the game world, its development and its release date.
Grand Theft Auto VI remains a great mystery for gamers, as Rockstar has revealed practically nothing about its long-awaited title. Things are beginning to change little by little, as one of the most reliable sources in the industry revealed interesting details about the game.
Thanks to a new report from Bloomberg staffer Jason Schreier, we know the title will be quite different from its predecessors for a couple of reasons: its leading man and a lesser level of irreverence from Rockstar.
He also revealed information about its setting, its development status, as well as some internal changes that have been made at Rockstar and that have affected the creation of Grand Theft Auto VI.
GTA VI WILL BET ON A PROTAGONIST AND LESS CONTROVERSY
According to Schreier, Rockstar has gone through a revamping process to iron out issues that have plagued its workers for years. So now the crunch is avoided, changes have been made to developer schedules, and workers who have committed abuses have been fired.
At the same time, various political events have made the studio more cautious when presenting content that could be considered controversial in its games. As a result, Grand Theft Auto VI, codenamed Project Americas, is expected to have a slightly different tone, as Rockstar wants to avoid making jokes about marginalized groups.
The report states that the title will feature a female lead for the first time. In addition, it is highlighted that she will be a Latin character and that she will be one of the 2 main characters. It is mentioned that the story of the game will be influenced by Bonnie and Clyde, famous criminals from the United States.
WHERE WILL GTA VI BE SET?
The report also claims that Rockstar’s initial goal was for GTA VI to be the biggest game in the franchise. The company initially worked in fictional territories based in North and South America. However, the scale appeared to be too ambitious and had to be reduced.
For now we know that the title will be set in a fictional version of Miami and nearby places. Despite the change, the game’s map is said to still be quite large. Additionally, Rockstar would work to continually update the game to add new content, including cities.
WHEN WILL GTA VI DEBUT?
Schreier recalled that various sources are betting that GTA VI will arrive sometime in the fiscal year 2024 from Take-Two, Rockstar’s parent company. This implies a premiere between April 2023 and March 2024. However, the game could take longer to arrive.
It is mentioned that the developers are skeptical of such a release window. In fact, the sources interviewed in the report stated that they do not know any estimated date for their debut, but they estimate that it will take at least another 2 years. Thus, everything indicates that the wait will still be long.
