‘Reboot’ Canceled After One Season at Hulu

Hulu has cancelled the comedy series Reboot, which debuted last year, after one season.Despite receiving favourable reviews from reviewers when it first debuted, the programme will not be returning for another season.
The television industry was mocked by the meta-comedy, which frequently revived popular old episodes. It focused on the dysfunctional ensemble of Step Right Up, a fictional 2000s comedy, who were asked to return for the show’s relaunch.

Reboot Canceled at Hulu After One Season

Clay Barber, played by actor Johnny Knoxville, confirmed the rumours in a social media message.”It is with a heavy heart that I announce that @hulu has not even renewed Reboot for a second season, despite the show receiving excellent reviews and being nominated for a critics’ choice award. “Pretty incredible,” he declared.

I wanted to thank Steve Levitan and the entire fantastic cast for allowing me to be a part of this show since working on it has been one of the greatest joys of my life. However, we still prefer to shop it around, so perhaps it will find a home with a studio that supports new shows as they develop and believes in them,” he continued.

The Series was Created by Modern Family Creator Steve Levitan

Steve Levitan first endeavour after the acclaimed Modern Family, which ended after 10 seasons in 2020, was Reboot. It was also the first programme he produced just for a streaming platform. Late in 2021, the pilot episode of the show was shot, and in January 2022, an eight-episode first season was commissioned.

Reboot, according to Levitan, was similar to “therapy” for him because it gave him the chance to “express some of the things [he’d] been thinking in his career.” It occurred to him that it would be much wiser to simply say, “I’m going to ride Modern Family out with the sunset and go off to wine country,” as he had previously said.

“But I wanted to keep working,” the creator had stated.  like to write and create, and I like doing this. I can sense the pressure there.  made an effort to use it positively to spur me on to refuse to give up. Reboot premiered on Hulu alongside other written comedies, including Life & Beth, Only Murders in the Building, and How I Met Your Father.

What does Reboot involve?

The programme centres on the dysfunctional cast of the fictional Step Right Up, a popular comedy from the early 2000s. When a young writer successfully pitches a revival of their programme, the cast is forced to confront their unresolved problems and learn how to live in the media and entertainment industry.
The show’s executive producers are Steven Levitan, John Enbom, Danielle Stokdyk, and Jeff Morton; Keegan-Michael Key is the only producer.

Keegan-Michael Key is a well-known American actor, comedian, screenwriter, and producer. He is best known for co-starring with Jordan Peele in the Comedy Central sketch show Key & Peele. Additionally, he appeared in Playing House on the USA Network.

The programme was created by Levitan Productions and 20th Television, while Disney Platform Distribution handled distribution.

Reboot was Planned as a Multi-Season Show

Since the series was always intended to go for more than one season, the cancellation surprised many people. The first season’s finale also had a cliffhanger that left questions that have yet to be resolved. Although just 68% of viewers rated the first season favourably, critics gave it an 88% rating.

An early 2000s family sitcom is reinvented, and the dysfunctional ensemble must deal with their unresolved issues in today’s fast-changing world, according to the official summary of the series. Keegan-Michael Key, Rachel Bloom, Calum Worthy, Krista Marie Yu, Judy Greer, Paul Reiser, Eliza Coupe, Alyah Chanelle Scott, and Ryan Dietz were all featured in Reboot, in addition to Knoxville.

Reboot Spoofs the Recent Reboot Trend

The reboot centres on the cast of a successful sitcom from the early 2000s. When a young writer proposes a relaunch of their series, they discover that they are being reunited. After spending three decades working in TV comedy, Levitan called the show his “love letter to comedies” and “much-needed therapy” when it was picked up by Hulu for a full season. Additionally, Hulu executives stated that they thought the programme had a lot of potential because the producer of Modern Family was involved.

“Steve’s outstanding track record is self-evident,” Jordan Helman, the head of scripted content at Hulu, said. “Every week, Modern Family made millions laugh and quickly spread around the world.”It was fantastic and incredibly appealing. Given our lineup of popular comedies, which includes Ramy, Only Murders in the Building, Pen15, and more, we’re thrilled that Reboot will air on Hulu. We also know that our audience will adore this hilariously meta-satirical comedy.
The first and only season of Reboot is available to stream on Hulu. Time will tell if and when the programme is renewed for a second season on another streaming service, but considering the interest in the show that has already been expressed, there seems to be a pretty decent possibility that it will.
