New Portable Mosquito Repellent Device Passes U.S. Military Testing

A new mosquito repellant may protect the United States military from dangerous infections.
On June 21, 2016, in Guangzhou, China, at the Sun Yat-Sen University-Michigan University Joint Center of Vector Control for Tropical Disease, adult female mosquitoes are observed under a microscope.
Military personnel are particularly susceptible to insect bites because they are frequently outdoors, especially from mosquitoes.
Malaria, dengue, West Nile, and the Zika virus can all be spread by these tiny flying insects.
The University of Florida made the decision to create a novel portable mosquito repellant as a result.

New Mosquito Repellent for US Military

The Department of Defense Deployed Warfighter Protection (DWFP) programme is funding the development of the new portable insect repellent, according to the most recent SciTech Daily report.
On September 11, 2011, at Bagram Air Field in Afghanistan, U.S. Army soldiers stood in salute during the national anthem during a ceremony commemorating the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. American soldiers paid their respects in a solemn observation of the awful day ten years after the 9/11 attacks in the United States and after nearly a decade of fighting in Afghanistan.
According to Nagarajan Rajagopal, a Ph.D. candidate, through U.F. News, “Our gadget eliminates the need for applying topical repellents and for pesticides that are sprayed across an open area.”

He continued by saying that it lessens contamination of the nearby flora and waterways.

In addition, Rajagopal asserts that their brand-new, portable repellent for mosquitoes has no negative effects on bees or butterflies.

This repellant doesn’t require electricity or heat to work, nor does it require any skin contact.

U.S. Military Test a Success!

The handheld insect repellant is a passive controlled-release device.

It is constructed of cotton carrying the repellant and two smaller tubes held in a tube-shaped polypropylene plastic container.
During a field test, the portable mosquito repellent successfully blocked mosquitoes from entering a location for four weeks.

Rajagopal explained, “We term our technology passive since you don’t need to do anything to activate it.”

As of publication, the University of Florida intended to use a 3D printer to construct further buildings.

However, Rajapogal and the concerned experts first applied for a patent for their creation.

The U.S. government can anticipate support from military officials because it wants to sell its product.
