Is there a problem with the iPhone or iPad when using in-flight WiFi? Have you recently updated to iOS 15 by chance? The most likely reason is that. Due to a new iOS feature called Private Relay, it appears that all of the accessible airlines, including American, Delta, Southwest, United, and all others, are having problems with their in-flight WiFi.
How To Fix iOS 15 In-Flight WiFi Issues
A new privacy feature called Private Relay conceals your IP address and your Safari browser history. When connecting to an airline’s aainflight Wi-Fi network, your iPhone must first establish a connection to Apple’s server, which is not possible.
Disable Private Relay !
Currently, turning off Private Relay is the only option to create an airline’s Aainflight WiFi network.
iCloud > Settings > Apple ID > Private Relay is where this is done.
The fact that Private Relay can only be turned off while an Internet connection is available, however, is the real issue. Otherwise, the Private Relay option in iCloud Settings is not visible. Therefore, I hope you are reading this before getting on the plane for your next travel.
Quick Tip: You may immediately enable cellular data and disable Private Relay as stated above if you’ve just taken a seat in an airplane and takeoff procedures haven’t begun yet. Reactivate the aeroplane mode, check to see whether your Wi-Fi is on, then connect to the local WiFi aboard the plane!
Turn Off Private Relay For A Specific Network
You may also choose to turn off this privacy function for each network you connect to in iOS 15. You may do this under Settings -> Wi-Fi. Try toggling Off iCloud Private Relay by tapping the blue I symbol next to the name of the airline’s aainflight Wi-Fi network!
However, if you can’t really connect to the network, this could not be an option, leaving you trapped without Internet for your travel!
Additional Fix: By repeatedly turning on and off WiFi in the Settings window, some people have been able to connect to the aainflight WiFi network without Private Relay going on.
Have the same aainflight WiFi issues with iOS 15 happened to you? Do you have a more effective answer?
